WHAT WE’RE ALL ABOUT
TXCPI is an emerging network of community development practitioners, artists, and community members who want to build, foster, and support equitable and vibrant arts-based community development practices in Texas. Through the sharing of successes and challenges, TXCPI aspires to support the development of cross-sector, state-wide relationships and networks that can work together to create resources and educational opportunities, and policy advocacy efforts needed to advance creative placemaking / placekeeping work in Texas.
How we’re taking action
NETWORKING
BUILDING A COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE
As a community of practice, the foundation of TXCPI is dedicated to providing a platform for building the critical relationships needed in creative community development projects, and all within a Texas-specific context. Bringing diverse perspectives, accountabilities, and methods to the table is at the heart of this work, but it requires consistent critique, learning, and room for conversation. This is the door TXCPI seeks to hold open.

RESOURCES & EDUCATION
SHARING TEXAS-SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
From those who have shaped the creative placemaking landscape, to those who are entering the field anew, there is always more to learn. With a state as large and diverse as Texas, having the opportunity to share these insights with one another is invaluable. TXCPI shares resources on how to initiate and lead successful creative placemaking projects, while achieving the outcomes that make them worthwhile.

ADVOCACY
POLICY ADVOCACY AT THE STATE LEVEL
This work needs support in more ways than one and working to create structural changes at the level of state policies is one of the critical paths needed for sustained funding and broad-based support. As a collective, TXCPI communicates the value of creative placemaking/placekeeping to state politicians and works to garner more financial resources and expanded opportunities for this work throughout the state.
